Wyoming
HB0275 - Treatment of animals. This bill was signed into law by the governor on March 3, 2025. This bill was a step in the right direction, but it omitted the use of weaponized motor vehicles such as snowmobiles used to kill, torture, run over, and kill wolves.
HB331 Taking of Predators on Public Land: AN ACT relating to game and fish; prohibiting persons from harassing, injuring, or killing predatory animals with vehicles on public lands; This bill was shot down in committee due to testimony from the Stock growers and Wool growers associations stating they need to use this as a means to protect livestock.
Wyoming Wildlife Cruelty Law Initiative
Objective:
Advocate for the creation and passage of a state-specific wildlife cruelty law in Wyoming that ensures heinous acts of violence against wildlife—such as deliberately running over animals with motorized vehicles—are illegal and punishable by law.
Why This Matters:
-
There is currently no comprehensive wildlife cruelty law in Wyoming, leaving a dangerous legal gap that allows for brutal acts against wildlife without consequences.
-
The overwhelming public outcry after the Daniel, WY incident has made it clear that Wyoming residents and Americans demand stronger wildlife protections.
-
Deliberate cruelty toward wildlife is unacceptable and should carry legal penalties, just as abuse toward domestic animals like cats and dogs does.
-
Wyoming can lead ethical wildlife management by setting a precedent for humane treatment and accountability. HOWEVER, they have chosen not to, so our fight continues.
Our Focus:
-
Push for legislation that criminalizes intentional acts of cruelty against wildlife, including the use of motorized vehicles to harm or kill animals.
-
Ensure legal accountability so that perpetrators face real consequences.
-
Engage with lawmakers, wildlife agencies, and the public to build bipartisan support for this necessary reform.
The Goal:
-
Close the legal loopholes that allow wildlife cruelty to go unpunished.
-
Uphold Wyoming’s reputation as a state that values its natural heritage and wildlife.
-
Ensure justice for wildlife by making deliberate cruelty a crime—no animal should suffer at human hands without accountability.
